Why army and not uscg?
You could end up responding to a SAR emergency day 1 out of boot camp. If you pick being an ME you are guaranteed opportunities to do counter terror or counter narcotics hands-on. Or be an OS and run comms+coordinate entire cases from behind the scenes.
