yeah there's no comparison. like in every country in the world there's a fair share of people that don't care much about religion even if they adhere to some principles, symbols or aspects of it.
also i don't think they have much crime, if you're not an american citizen it should be good enough

fun fact: while casually talking to my parents i briefly mentioned that there is a turk in the travel forum i post in. as soon as my mother heard "Turkey" she immediatly thought you were an islamist. i told her you're secular but i couldn't convince her otherwise
not even my father, that worked in Saudi Arabia and Iran when he was young, could convince her that in every muslim country there's a sizable irreligious part of the population (EXPECIALLY Turkey for obvious reasons). if you are from Turkey, you're definitely an islamist
