It's actually very likely we are getting a reworked racial system in Midnight because Helves will be so important, and making them a separate race would be ridiculous.

The Draenei quest was implemented after Metzen arrived so it probably is meant to foreshadow Midnight, and if he's calling them Eredar (and teasing Broken) that points to it as well
