Never saw anyone say they could farm a token in a few hours, but yes, agree, that would be some extreme exaggeration.
I'd personally categorize 'casual playing' as doing the weeklies and at minimum gold WQ's currently active during downtime, which can net 20-40k gold in one sitting, heavily dependant on the weeky rewards varying their random amounts being 1.5k to 3k to for some fucking reason a lower chance 16k for like... a lazy 2-3 hours just going around. I don't know how long it takes to speedrun the weeklies.

But throw alts doing the same into the mix during downtime and depending how many you choose to do in the week, its not hard to bank up two tokens worth in the two months.

WoW got turned into season slop and now their is no real reason to play outside of events or the end of an expansion, playing during the season just locks you into to many weekly daily slop that ends up gating your progression.
