the new Laphroaig Cairdeas Lore Cask Strength. initial impression is good, but not stellar. it came in Thursday and there was only one video review out at the time and nothing on whiskybase to my knowledge. I havent added water yet, but its lacking the smoked oyster note my 2016 Lore had for the first couple pours. which is the part I was most hoping would reappear. my guess is that the older stock in this cask strength version was of a different makeup and/or even less teaspooned than before. at least its more complex than the 2024 Cairdeas(unless mine has still not properly open up). I'll have to compare the 2016 Lore with this new one in a month or so. it's also very drinkable at 59.6%.
