>This. It's all politics. Posturing, shit testing, and social hierarchy. Just a bunch of animals trying to declare themselves king of the shitheap. No different from the social dynamics of lions or chimps. Everything from high level politics to office work is the same, but here it is very obvious.
It's social status. "Honor." Respect. I use this pic as an example because the guy in the middle killed a guy in a murder-for-hire plot. But you see his tattoos and jewelry. He thinks he's so cool. But to make it more relatable to how ypipo do it, think of bikers who wear iron crosses on their jackets. I run into a guy sometimes (nice guy actually) who wears a knife on his belt, and a Thor's hammer around his neck, and various rings (he had spent some time in prison for... I dunno), and he looks rough in a scare-the-hoes kind of way, but he imagines himself (in his mind) as like an honorable bushido warrior. Really. This is Scots-Irish honor culture stuff. So the last time I saw him, I asked him what kind of knife he was carrying, and he pulled it out, and I pulled my knife out and then we exchanged knives to examine them. I know this sounds really gay but that's what people are like.
