i guess the point i'm making is that there are so many steps between the guitar and what people actually hear on records.

amp sims and IR's aren't trying to recreate or capture the sound of an amp moving air in a room. The whole point is to mimic the sound of the guitar after the amp, speaker, mic or mics including room mics.

They're not trying to take away your ability to annoy your family by playing too loud
