The problem with Luther is that he keeps on measuring faith by observing works. He was under the impression that Faith is something that we hate to work for

Faith comes first and then works
People get saved first then they act like one.

Again and again, the Church tells everyone over and over that Heaven is not a reward for your hardwork. It is a gift freely given so that none may boast. The only question is whether you wanted to accept it.
