That's actually something I really like about it. The mechs...are outdated. Tanks are the new cool thing and the mechs are the old thing showing their age.

To put it in Battletech terms, imagine if the scenario were flipped, and it was the Merkava being shown off as being able to destroy the Mackie in a demonstration instead, displaying the power of the new power of tanks...
