Is a story about the protagonists winning with dignity "wank" now? I don't think any Eldar fan has a problem with them struggling or losing now and again. The problem is that the few CWE stories we get seem to always end in some "we won, but we're still doomed!" pyrrhic victory trope. Often a fairly humiliating one at that.
