Wouldn't be the first time a special case circumvents the Game's rules. If the SA somehow became part of Tetsuya (maybe even metaphorically if his perception changes due to overusing it?) that could still apply. But at that point I don't think he'd be allowed to die as long as there's belief that Ouroboroses are eternal.

Maybe. My assumption was that the skin itself became another being, not unlike how Shadows work but maybe not in the exact same way.

There's a clear comparison you could make between Tetsuya and the state of the Game in how eternity isn't sustainable, and the devs seem to be aware of it too given what's in his research files. I'm sure they have some expectation for people to come up with answers to the plot points they hint at.
