Most of their published games just weren't that good. Sometimes it's a potentially decent game but it's held back by not getting to be developed quite enough, and sometimes it's a game which is painfully unfinished or/and underdeveloped, and it's just not fun at all.
On a few occasions, they put out some pretty damn good games.
For a notable example, Friday The 13th is a game which has some problems, but it's still actually a pretty cool game, hell, even AVGN has said out of character that he actually really likes it.
If LJN had given Atlus a bit more time to polish it, then Friday The 13th would probably have been widely remembered as one of the diehard classics.
Broadly, a LOT of LJN's titles could have been substantially better if they only had a little bit more work put into them, making poor games at least decent, and making the more promising ones actually stand out a lot more.
