Eh. A Nationalistic-Ethnic Nord political movement in Skyrim tons of elements they could've drawn from.
There's the religious divide, since the 8 Divines are a syncretic religion created by Alessian priests, and traditional Nord religion actively fears their version of Akatosh, the main God of the Imperial Pantheon.
There's the racial aspect (which is lightly touched upon tbf) about Nords being not only distinctly Men but violently against elves
You could even go further and maybe try and dissect how an independent Nord movement would feel about the Empire when they've always been the one willing subject of it, with the justification being Tiber Septims (possibly fabricated) Atmoran/Nord nature.
Instead it's just the more bare bones political independence of a central hegemon power in crisis and some weird hang up about Talos when Shor and Alduin should be a way more important issue.
