We had regular fire emblem threads on /v/ before /vg/ existed. That was before FE12 got fan-translated or awakening existed. The Let's Play stuff started on /vg/ with some guy blogposting his fe6 playthrough
At the time, fire emblem threads were VERY casual with no one having played the kaga games. The extent of "waifu" posting was a few pictures of lyn that were frequently reposted because there was virtually no good fire emblem fanart back then.
