Could actually go toe-to-toe with peer opponents unlike their army counterparts who had a habit of crumbling against any enemy better armed and equipped than Chinese peasants (with exception of the 1941-42 period where they ran riot across the European/American-held territories of Asia, even then their success was largely enabled by the IJN)
