When I bought my tablet, I didn't use it for a few of months but once I got into it it's stayed on my desk between mouse and keyboard for years.

I don't really do 3D so I don't know.
The main debate is about tablet size and screen/noscreen.
I prefer tablets without a screen but they take a little longer to get used to. The actual size of the tablet doesn't matter much, I find.
