God I wish this were true. There was dogshit animation back in the day as well, obviously, but if anything I think it's only ever gotten MORE common because you have more tricks to hide it.

One of my favorite things about the Varesa/Iansan/Xianyun/Furina team is that it has really low energy reqs so you can just do shit like run Skyward Spine on Iansan or Eye on Xianyun just to give them more Atk.
But then modes like Stygian throw that out the window and it's back to Fav or Sac on every support in every team.
