I hate RWBY, but Jaune is not comparable to anime protagonists.
Dude is emotionally vulnerable, endures humiliation rituals, is weak as shit and has fucked up shit happen to him and responds to these events by getting stronger, resolving himself and helping/caring about others. His upbeat goodboi moralfag aura managing to survive through a variety of external tribulation. He is bland/vanilla and has women who like him in the same sense a lot of female characters of this archetype have male fanbases.
An Anime protagonist is TRULY bland as fuck because he is literally a self-insert/power and doing shit like killing his love interests or shoving him in a dress is unconscionable.
