Unless you're talking about really early parts of the game, in which everything's easy by default, the average hunter would've learned and have had amassed enough combines by the end of low rank to constantly drop a Rathalos from flying when needed through the farms.

I get your sentiment after reading all the way up but you talk about mounting and ledges in 4U as if it happens just as frequently as focus mode when in reality you can choose to mount 2 times at most before the average monster dies unless you really have a hyperdedicated IG mounting set meant to mountspam gog or kushala or something. Your argument would've easily been a lot more reasonable if it's GU and their style and arts, which easily did more damage to MH's combat more than mounting could ever did.
