Some of the monster designs in this game are really cool, which makes it suck all the more that you can't make armor from their parts. I like how the AI companions are handled, they feel like Frontier rastas done a lot better. Playing this has convinced me that MH should make a 15th weapon that combines melee and ranged combat somehow, it's such a good concept fundamentally and it's so fun to play with.

Found an investigation yesterday where it was tempered steve and tempered gravios in the arena; fought them both at the same time without using the fence and holy shit it was some of the most fun I’ve had in monhun in years. I wish they’d up the spawn rate of investigations that had two high level monsters instead of it just being stuff like one tempered apex and one kutku adjacent mon, it’s a lot more fun when there’s more difficulty

Weapon/armor/monster/character designs are super underwhelming compared to what people had come to expect from gen 3,4, and even gen 2 in some instances. Then there's all the core system changes a good amount of which were arguably for the worse. Ledges aren't accessible 24/7 and staying near ledges do not guarantee continuous mounting. Some maps even still has completely flat surfaces. Some weapons play even better than mountspamming by just... playing the weapon normally. Ledges are also known to eat your roll and fuck you over.
It's not constant. It's not overpowered. It's not weapon-changing. And it does not provide full advantages. Teammates can even fuck up your mount back then.
You can compare that to focus mode which is available 24/7, is a straight upgrade on all weapons, some even necessitates the use of it.

If I remember correctly you can btfo their legs with the right rifle and bullets. Orbital death bullet also works well so long as it lands on the head.
