The actual answer is shockingly simple.
If you want to have a wheelchair in a fantasy setting without it feeling retarded, then put a fucking wheelchair into your fantasy setting without doing anything retarded with it.
Don't give me some magic floating wheelchair.
Don't give me some retarded invincible combat wheelchair.
Don't try to sell me on this idea of a competent adventurer exploring dungeons from a fucking wheelchair.
Do something with the wheelchair that makes some degree of fucking sense. A wizard that spends all his time studying magic or a noble with a fucked up back thanks to genetics (so no convenient magical cure, it's just his default state of being) who needs a wheelchair because he can only stay standing for short periods of time is perfectly fine and makes sense. Do something with it that isn't just retarded pandering "everyone can do anything" shit that only exists to make overly privileged first worlders feel better about themselves. Wheelchairs shouldn't be an accessory for your special snowflake freakshit OC to virtue signal with (especially if you're going to ignore any potential mechanical disadvantages to such a choice)
