So this is game that has inventors that are dwarves and goblins and they build all these amazing machines and they have their own distinct look and feel. So they went with the magic pink wheel chair that looks like a 1:1 replica of something in real life? But why?
They could have so easily let the dwarves fix it. Or the goblins, or something? Right? This seems like it would have been right up their alley and it would have fit into the setting perfectly. People are blizzard genuine fucking retards, but I would expect nothing less from a group of obese brown and white women who insist on this literal garbage.

>>713990098 (OP)This is a good example of how virtue signaling takes precedence over everything else and it makes everything worse.
They wanted to have a crippled but important character to virtue signal about disability. Since it’s a fantasy setting and he’s a mage, he could be floating in some sort of magic throne. But that doesn’t work as well to signal their virtue since floating thrones don’t exist in real life, but wheelchairs do. So they put him in a wheelchair so that people in wheelchairs can “see themselves in media” or something, but they also knew that it would be ridiculous for such a powerful mage to use a standard wheelchair.
And that’s how we got here. A floating wheelchair. Something that doesn’t even use its wheels. It could look like anything, but the image of a heroic character in a wheelchair was so important to the writers that logic didn’t even come into play.
Now imagine that every decision is made like this. Why is this medieval European village so diverse? Why are there women fighting on the front lines in this post-apocalypse? Because the virtue signal always takes precedence.
>>713991026I don't know what that is, but it looks futuristic.

Don't give me some retarded invincible combat wheelchair.
Don't try to sell me on this idea of a competent adventurer exploring dungeons from a fucking wheelchair.

A wizard that spends all his time studying magic or a noble with a fucked up back thanks to genetics (so no convenient magical cure, it's just his default state of being) who needs a wheelchair because he can only stay standing for short periods of time is perfectly fine and makes sense. >>714014605The fact that Fantasy games always had injuries and deaths that could not be healed by in-universe magic? Warcraft had characters who lost limbs, characters who died to poison & disease despite dispels and cure spells existing for both of these, and in general despite ressurection being a thing, characters that canonically died and didn't come back. Oh and of course mortal wounds leading to death, despite powerful healer characters being right there.
This is why it's important to recognize this for what it is: Culture war bullshit. This is not a new thing that writers have only started doing now. This has always been in the lore, but the biggest faggots on earth now see anything that varies from the default in the slightest manner as "pandering" See:

>>714018859>is that the disability is being used specifically for diversity points and nothing else.Do you have LITERALLY ANY proof of this? This is again, literally just what culture war faggots want you to believe. See:
>but having him face any adversity because of his wheelchair would be problematicIs wrong, having him face adversity due to being in a wheelchair is the OPPOSITE of problematic, it would in fact net them MASSIVE diversity points. Because guess what? People who struggle with wheelchairs, like it when their disability is depicted in a realistic manner that actually impacts the character. Having it not really impact the character is far more "problematic".
>have them overcome their innate disadvantage by having them develop other abilities to compensateThis is different from Khadgar using his magic to overcome the fact that he can't walk... how?
It might be true that wheelchairs are now again coming up more specifically, because it is a bit in the Zeitgeist. But writing a wheelchair character in is not just purely for diversity points as people claim. Diversity points aren't real. Nor does it help a thing to be popular.
Here's the real fact: Writers like writing multifaceted characters. With strengths and weaknesses. One of them being: "Hey how would we deal with someone who can't walk in our fantasy world?" In WoW, it's a magical wheelchair conjuration, in "A Game Of Thrones" in 1996 Tyrion designs a special saddle so Bran can ride.
I get why you're angry. But you are being mislead. This is not some fucking sinester conspiracy. What is happening is that right wing faggots, who want you to be on their side, show you all the recent examples of cripples, faggots and niggers being included in media, and each time tell you they are "just noticing things" training you to "just notice" these things too, tricking you into thinking that this is some sort of fucking conspiracy between writers all over the fucking world.

>>713990098 (OP)The only good reason to have wheelchairs in a medieval fantasy setting is if they have some kind of anachronism where one race or faction is more technologically advanced than the general population, because a medieval society wouldn't really have the material culture to produce a wheelchair. What's more, a person bound to a wheelchair could simply be healed by magical means in a fantasy setting. If healing is impossible for whatever reason, then their paralysis might be circumvented by other, magical means.
For instance, levitate is a common spell in the Warcraft universe. There's no need for a powerful mage to be in a fucking floating purple wheelchair.

>>714020315>medieval society wouldn't really have the material culture to produce a wheelchair.BOY you could have done just a real quick google search "medieval times, wheelchair" and figure out that in 6th century China, people created wheelchairs. That kinda dashes your whole "didn't really exist" argument you build there.
>What's more, a person bound to a wheelchair could simply be healed by magical means in a fantasy setting.Depends on the Fantasy setting. As I alluded to before in this thread, not every injury can be healed in a fantasy world with magic. WoW specifically has ways to cure disease, injury, poison, curse, and even death with magic, yet on "canon injuries" these often do not work. This has been established for ages. It's been a meme in fucking 1997 Internet Forums with "Why didn't they just use a Phoenix Down on Aerith, lol?"
You can not take your in-game abilities, and expect them to be translated 1 to 1 into the story. Every fight would just be: "okay, we'll just put 20 healers behind the good guy and then he literally can't die". You might as well be asking: "If the boss has an enrage timer, why doesn't he just use these strong raid wipe abilities from the start?" because then there'd be no game / no story. In "canon" preparing a levitation spell might be more difficult than it is in-game. Hell, in game you don't even need to farm fucking feathers for it any more like you used to.

People who struggle with wheelchairs, like it when their disability is depicted in a realistic manner that actually impacts the character. What you're describing is good writing and it WOULD be better representation, but the combat wheelchair crowd isn't actually comprised of disabled people, it's virtue signaling Twitterites including some people pretending to be (physically) disabled. IIRC one of the people who sparked the combat wheelchair fad by complaining about dungeons not being wheelchair-accessible was able-bodied but their social media profile showed them in a wheelchair.
Twitterites (I guess I should say tumblr refugees but ironically modern tumblr is less crazy after these people ran for Twitter) don't want adversity in their stories and don't want to brush against the realities of what a disabled person might have to go through. Making a paraplegic unable to do something would be as insulting to them as giving a stereotypically negative trait to a black person; they want a sanitized, whitewashed version of adversity where little actual adversity happens. At most there might be a cardboard cutout of bigotry to knock over, but having the protagonist LOSE, even temporarily? That's a Neddy-no-no.

>>714024254Nigher what fucking false narrative are you creating? Multiple people have said that in this thread and people even started posting cool cripples done right? Are you just chosing to ignore that to keep yourself safe in your false narrative that "the opposite is le bad"?
>>714024481Do... do you think game companies get monies for putting cripples in games? Are you retarded?
>>714023125Wheelchairs are the official "jumping the shark" moment for settings that are overly concerned with representation. It was a meme in the fucking 90s.
>>714024760Someone doesn’t know how industry initiatives work.
>>714024665It's probably a lot simpler than that. Create a model of a wheelchair, stick someone in it with a sit you already have animation, put it in your game and bam. Free social points and people will talk about how progressive your game is.
>>714024604That's a lot of words for someone who claims is level headed about this whole thread.
>>714024513That same line of thinking is why I don't get why trannies are always crying for representation. Why not just play a woman, man, or other, and immerse yourself in the fantasy of being that instead of reminding yourself that you will never be a woman or whatever even in a video game?
>>713990337they can bring DEAD from the grave bro you think they can fix a spinal cord injury. they can refrow entire lands to be lush wetlands and NO we need inclusivity. this is why people will never take wheelchairs in magical settings seriously
>>714024708It's always made from the bulkiest wood. So retarded
>>714024513jewish victimhood culture vs white liberal culture, grievance and victimhood are all that matters
>>714024708It would be funny if he returns at some point but he changed classes to THM.
>>714024665>featuring wheelchairsNigger, where are all these games? This khadgar shit is 6 months old and it's a 30 seconds interaction, are you ok?
Featuring, and it's a 5 seconds optional dialogue between two characters that most people are just going to skip.
You retards are so lost.
>>714024815No anon, it’s all about money. The government was quite literally funding big developers to do inclusivity shit.
https://www.npr.org/2025/02/11/nx-s1-5293082/trump-executive-orders-dei-nea-arts-organizations
Only retards deny it at this point. It’s not a coincidence that a bunch of unrelated studios suddenly decided that wheelchairs were the next big fad when there had been poor reception for the concept. Just look at the poor reception for the switch wheelchair game.
>>714024707No you absolute retard, he's the perfect example of that. He overcompensated because of his disability to the point where he was the best member of the team and he didn't want to accept that the chair was holding him back in any way. In the few episodes where he had to get help from others it was empathising the fact that EVERYONE needs help sometimes, and that he wasn't any weaker for relying on his friends. Which was the entire point.
>>714024696it is ironic that chuds use "NPC" as an insult, and then just blindly regurgitate bullshit they heard from a "non political" youtuber, with zero critical thinking, lmao.
I wish we had more crippled girls cause I have a cripple girl fetish
>>714024864because modern fantasy fans dont understand that fantasy is not a representation of real life. the word "fantasy" is literally synonymous with the word "imagination" yet everyone into it today are incapable of this simple basic requirement.
>>714024983Ffxiv
Wow
Nintendo’s new wheelchair game.
DnD was doing it but that was before there were initiatives for it. I could be wrong, maybe they had some smaller initiatives back when they began this stuff.
Either way, it’s 100% funded. Otherwise these for profit studios wouldn’t risk doing shit like this because it has poor reception.
>>714025080i wish there was a game about cripple girls
it could be called "cripple girls"
>>714025021Okay, but I don’t see how it contradicts "having to bring the wheelchair into any sort of escapism"
>>714025014>Programs that fund underserved communities>to the retards, this translates to giving Billion dollar companies extra money for putting characters in wheelchairs.LMAO, I wish I had a right wingers brain, life would be so much simpler on room temperature IQ.
>>714025153And yet, none of them are in a wheelchair except for a short segment
Lily Best Girl
>>714025208Anon why are you denying reality? Here’s one for race:

You can’t deny the existence of these programs anymore.
>>714024612There are no bots here. The time and money commitment required to bot a board with 50 users is fucking stupid. How fast can you run 100 meters?
>>714024503Yeah Blizzard are targeting the pensioner demographic I'm sure. Actually that's probably accurate at this point

>>714025208>ignore those ESG reports and racial surveys every corporation publishes, it doesn’t matter!
>>714025363Oh no. Big soap is out to get me.
>>714025349They are just targeting those activist funds because they don’t know how to make money anymore.
>>714024254The only reason you're mad is because you see critiquing anything seemingly woke that could be construed as having a single positive element as being antiwoke, and that's automatically bad, so having anyone critique that thing is also automatically bad. You can go fuck yourself. If there actually were no groups trying to systematically inject a specific ideology into culture I'd be down with you, 100%.
>>714024513Except that them doing shit is what is bothering you.

>>714025208Here’s one from an Australian university.
https://arts.unimelb.edu.au/about/diversity-and-inclusion/small-grants-program
>>714025502Them doing low effort shit to get grant money is insulting, especially when most people in wheelchairs don’t exactly enjoy the restriction.
>>714025452He choses the safe bubble
>>714025112Fantasy and Sci-Fi have since always been used as allegory for our current world problems, and what it could be without them / having solved them. More than any other genre that exists.
It is disengenious to pretend that the "imagination" part only reffers to "What if different world" when it also has always meant: "What if a world that doesn't have our societal issues?" "What if a world that doesn't have our gender issues?" "What if a world that doesn't have our capitalism issues?" "what if a world that doesn't have our racism issues?" Or even shit as: "What if a world that's all women?" "What if a world where the sexism is even worse?" If you truly believe that until 2010 all fantasy was just "Lawful good guy beats Evil guy with sword" then you must not have read many fantasy books, ever.
Hell even Tolkien, who openly rejected allegory, and wrote THE quintessential "Good triumphs over evil" book, accidentally created a story that is anti-industrialism, and anti war.
Fantasy has always been a representation of real life. Since for fucking ever.
>>714025607Does the game scan your body or something then pick the character for you? Remember that "Ypu are getting angry on their behalf!" is your argument.
>>714025727Well judging by the fact that they’ve only bothered putting known characters in wheelchairs suggests they didn’t put as much thought into it as you did.
Seeing as how it’s simply to check a box for a diversity grant, I’m not surprised. But you’ll continue defending low effort racial pandering, won’t you?
Racist piece of shit lol.
>>714024197Why stop there, put the wheelchair in a wheelchair.
>>714004617God, what I really hate about this Combat Wheelchair bullshit is that crowbarring all this shit in for the sake of inclusivity is actually less interesting for character building. Like this horseshit about a Druid's Wildshape still needing to be in a wheelchair. If I were making a crippled Druid, it'd be:
>Useless in a fight other than using some passive nature magic to aid the party, because I can't fucking walk>Can move just fine in Wildshape, get a bonus to abilities to compensate>Still have to content with mana upkeep and duration limits>Character motivation for joining the party is to look for an artifact that can remove the limitations on Wildshape so I can use it for as long and as often as I want>Become increasingly unhinged as I develop an unhealthy obsession with staying in Wildshape whenever I canIt's just basic shit.
>>714016124It's called levitate, not magic floating chair
>>714025718>accidentally created a story that is anti-industrialism, and anti warI’m pretty sure that happened because he himself was anti-industrialism and anti war
>>714025810I asked your ass if the game picks the character for you.
>But you’ll continue defending low effort racial pandering, won’t you? What race is a wheelchair
>Racist piece of shit lolWhat race is a wheelchair
>>714024638His money (and Soros') just got Zohran Mamdani elected as the Democratic candidate for mayor of NYC. But you never see a politician in a wheelchair these days, except Republicans in Texas.
>>714026086You asked a retarded question that I’m under no obligation to answer.
Stupid faggot lol.
>>714026176Because boomers learned in the 90s that it isn’t a good look to elevate the physically disabled for the sake of political pandering. Most people see through it after it was used to lift up FDR.
>>714026176Because leftists are ableists hypocrites.
>>714026150You are at the "playing retard" part of the argument because your dumb ass said this :
>especially when most people in wheelchairs don’t exactly enjoy the restriction.Love how quickly you dropped the fake pearl clutching. Also what race is wheelchair idiot?
>>714026286You are blaming them for not following your charicature guidelines.
>>714026295Look how this nigger tries to change the subject from devs being lazy for that DEI grant money.
They throw a wheelchair into the game, collect the paycheck, and faggots like this defend them as expected lmao.
>>714025269>Target: Majority-Black teams, majority-Black owned and operated studios, teams where Black members have a direct line to the company’s profits or are in key leadership roles>Target: Indian tech, media, and gaming; women-led focus>Target: Individual or independent game developers who identify either racially or ethnically as Black, and do not currently have a signed publishing agreement for a specific game>too long to copy allNIGGER CAN YOU READ??? These are ALL about hiring people. NONE of them are about "putting video game characters in wheelchairs".
It's literally what I said:
>Programs that fund underserved communities>to the retards, this translates to giving Billion dollar companies extra money for putting characters in wheelchairs. You are the retard I was talking about.
>>714025363>gamer afraid of soapLmao, stop! This is serious!
>>714025365Your link doesn't load
>>714025541Yeah, this is an university paying for students and staff to host cultural events. Have you ever watched anime? This is the school festival episode. And more importantly: This is the university giving members money to hold university events. This isn't "Big LGBT" giving gajillions to blizzard to include wheelchair khadgar, lmao. This is a school telling it's students and teachers "Here's 3k do a movie screening or something". Wanna compare this to how much Universities spend and make having their students play sport?
>>714026439So now are you willing to admit that DEI grants are real? You were denying that they existed before.
Are you ready to move the goalpost?
>>714025931No. We are all completely equal and just because a character has a disability doesn't mean that they are disabled from doing anything. It's just like making your character a different skin tone.
>>714026432Who said this?
>especially when most people in wheelchairs don’t exactly enjoy the restriction. What race is "wheelchair"?
>>714025978He was. But he did not intend for his story to be an allegory for it. But here's the thing about humans: What we know and what we feel, seeps into our stories. So when "modern" writers include LGBT, or minorities, it's usually not for some sinister conspiracy reason, but for the same reason Tolkien wrote anti-industrialism: Because they know about it/them. They are aware of it's existence, and so stories are sometimes about them.
>>714026653Who said wheelchair is a race?
>>714026713You
>>714025810>But you’ll continue defending low effort racial pandering, won’t you?>Racist piece of shit lol. When talking about wheelchair characters.
>>714026834How is a wheelchair included in the phrase “low effort racial pandering”?
You have trouble reading English, I presume?
>>714026427I'm blaming them for not being true to their own philosophy. They always make exceptions for themselves.
>>714026530I never denied DEI grants are real, illiterate-kun.
Third time, I wrote:
>Programs that fund underserved communities>to the retards, this translates to giving Billion dollar companies extra money for putting characters in wheelchairs.and before that, when I wrote "There are no DEI bucks" I wrote it clearly in response to someone saying: "They don’t get the DEI bucks if it’s not a wheelchair. That’s the fucking point." Claiming that there are DEI bucks for putting fictional characters in wheelchairs. So I explained why a fictional character was in a wheelchair. I know reading is hard, but you have to follow the whole conversation.
>inb4 anon tries to be a pedantic faggot, and point out that I didn't specify "for putting characters in wheelchairs" in my post, despite this being blindingly fucking obvious from the fact that I'm replying to a nigger saying DEI bucks for putting khadgar in a wheelchair.I swear, all you faggots have is pedantic word weasleing.
>>714027069Yes you did. You insinuated DEI grants are a figment of the imaginations of right wing chuds.
The burden is now on you to prove that blizzard does not get these grants.
>>714026530Not that guy, but anon, can you read?
He never said that they didn't exist, he said that they weren't given to put disabled character in fiction
>>714026929My original post:
>>714025502Replying to

>>714027168you can pretend to be retarded all you want. Only thing it dose is confirm that you’re a faggot.
>>714027163I don’t understand what you’re saying. There were no DEI grants in the 90s, which is the key difference between then and now.
>>714027051>I'm blaming them for not being true to their own philosophyNo, becase you think they go out looking for people and telling them: hey, wanna be a politician? Let me fund you.
Zohan fought against the entire party and his own party is blaming him cor making jews feel uncomfortable, except (according to you) Larry Fink.
>>714027309>There were no DEI grants in the 90s, which is the key difference between then and now.Completely different argument to

>>713990098 (OP)Should have sat on the mobius chair and it would have been a tiny bit more interesting
>>714027353>defending Zorhan>on 4chanYou'd probably vote for him specifically because he hates Jews.
>>714027353>No, becase you think they go out looking for people and telling them: hey, wanna be a politician? Let me fund you.Actually, yes, the DSA does exactly that. They audition charismatic people and then teach them their politics after they're chosen.
>>714027220Nigger litterally I'm asking where did I say that? Because I don't believe that there is no "DEI money". Well, there is no DEI money like you fags believe, but I would never claim there is no DEI money, because of course DEI programs need to be funded. The only time I said "There are no DEI bucks" was CLEARLY in response to someone claiming Blizzard gets DEI bucks for putting characters in wheelchairs.
And if you want to be a pedantic faggot, and insist on reading that one sentence out of context, cut out of the conversation, then so be it.
But if you have a bone of honesty in your body, you can admit you fucked up, say you didn't read what I was responding to and only reacted to the part where I said there are no DEI Bucks, and we call it there.
You can admit you jumped the gun, no need to be fucking weird about it, and insist I said something I didn't.
Or you know, alternatively show where I said you claim I said. If I said it, it should be easy to point out.
