I had a schizo theory that she'd be caught up in the festival dark world, and that somehow the Mew Mew Doll would be there and become a darkner. So Maddie would have this subplot where she and her new best friend would eventually fuse,possibly using the power of a shadow crystal, in a second round of charmingly unsubtle allegory. But because she's Maddie, you have to fight her because she gets pissed at you for reasons. The split heart mechanic returns of course.
