I mean no one knows the actual reason why it was changed besides the people who were localizing it at the time. But a lot of cards were changed back then because of religious sensibilities or violence (even cartoon violence, see: Arrivalrivals). Now they're changed because of that, Koreans, or just so Konami can sell you the lost art later, but then they stopped doing those promotions. Probably because they were lazy or something.
