I think I only ever deranked once.

dipity is a light fiend so it turns Primite (lode, roar or Beryl) into extra starters for fiendsmith. You use Primite Roar and then get to do normal Fiendsmith shit while also being able to use Dipity for drillbeam if you don't need to use it as a starter. I'm not the OCG coin flip schizo from Reddit, but I've been using Untapped to religiously track my coin flip rate since February this year. My coin toss rate has consistently hovered around 40% each month. Here are my results:

It has the same issue that Centurion currently does. They're fine decks but this is a shit meta for them.
Both are grind-game focused control decks that have a lot of non-engine and great consistency but mediocre endboards. This also describes decks like Blue-Eyes Primite and Fiendsmith Control. That means that when you get into your favorable position of a simplified gamestate that it's much less of a winning scenario than it is in other metas.
On top of that they're fairly weak to hand traps in a hand trap spam meta. Usually this wasn't THAT big of a deal since you have your own hand traps to shut down the opponent with and your deck has a major edge in a top-deck war. But in the current meta, not only are the top control decks more resilient to hand traps, but even when you successfully hand trap them, they don't need to cross their fingers for followup. They have it guaranteed off of Fiendsmith/Primite cards recurring even when they don't get proper setup.

I still think they're fine if you want to play them, it's not like it'll be hard to get wins. I climbed the WCQ stage 1 with Centurion easily enough, but from a competitive standpoint it's clear why they fell off.

Gone Wild is a free body in a ton of scenarios, and adds one more disruption to your endboards as well as makes accessing the rank 6s easier. If you run Bash you can even make Lavaetein thanks to him. But usually people just link him for fiendsmith since he's not a 3.

I also got my Galateas at the lows. I was super conflicted but I ended up rationalizing that because all the sellers aren't one upping each other by more than literal single digit cents, the price probably wasn't going to go down much also with the demand, at least not for a couple weeks. Glad I got just about everything I wanted from the set in only two orders. I bought Emilias as well, bitch must be short printed with the kind of numbers each seller has.

The difference is that in Purrelly the draws come for free as a part of resolving your combo. Card of Safe Return is not something you combo into. It's something you cross your fingers and pray you

And the "manage to resolve your combo" part becomes much harder which you have a card in hand that does nothing on its own. No one's arguing that drawing cards isn't powerful, but it's just an outdated sort of card. It's not comparable to PUNK getting to draw mid-combo or Pot of Greed which is guaranteed to be a live draw that gets you more plays. It's a bricky card that does nothing on its own and does nothing if you aren't already winning.

Like pretend you're playing an actually good deck. Say you're playing Snake Eyes. Do you want a card that does nothing on its own, but can draw a few cards IF you go full combo? Or would you rather have a called by the grave to protect your combo? Or an Ash to protect from Maxx C? Or a Sengenjin to extend with before you normal summon? Or an Engraver to put up negates before you start your real combo? Or a hand trap to stop your opponent's combo so you can actually do yours on turn 2 instead of being stopped in your tracks with an outdated continuous spell on field doing nothing?
Because those are the cards that you would give up for Card of Safe Return. By including it in your deck you would be drawing it instead of one of those cards.

Good modern decks are good because what they do is good enough to win the game, and because they can do it reliably. They don't need to also draw 5 bonus cards in games they already won.

They should add back Card of Safe Return because it's really funny when people add a bunch of bricks to their deck to improve their endboard from 5 negates to 6 and it'd be really funny to 1-card combo against those people from a hand with 1 playable card and then totally shut down your opponent after seeing them activate Safe Return which could've been a Veiler.

You can play Trish, but the rip 3 doesn't use it. You can rip 6 with Trish if you really want to but you need to play more bricks in your deck to pull it off and rip 3 with your end board is usually enough.

If you manage to do a full combo in a combo deck you will almost assuredly win. That's just the way the game is. There are tons of FTKs that can be done off of a single card too, but nobody plays them, because most games don't play out that simply.

what makes it more vulnerable? it still starts with the same basic 1 card combo that looks at their hand before summon 5, so as long as you run the cards needed you can choose which line to do after seeing their hand. If it goes through their only counterplay is topdecking a quickplay, and I don't think any single quick play in the game can recover a game from that position can it?

Viable for what? It's not going to be winning any tournaments but It's not like you can't still get wins on ladder with it. I wouldn't want to try to climb to Master 1 with it, but others do it. I like playing it from time to time still. It's very good at completing dailies because it does link+xyz(both different missions) and flips a trap on turn 1.
It's not a hard deck to learn.

It's lacking in 1 card combos but its still reasonably consistent and has good enough boards. It's just very bad at going second because it needs to run a fair amount of trap holes which can do nothing against monsters already on the board unlike other removal traps, and is very vulnerable to spot removal.
