I don't know, Gundam pull of some really wacky movement shit even in 0079 that makes them just a bit to divorced from Battletech in my eyes. The actual comparison (which I'm surprised no one in the anime camp has brought up yet) is Dougram, where the Combat Armors (outside of the eponymous one, because protagonist) move and shoot generally how I would expect battlemechs to.
