Either your headset gets good use or it becomes a paperweight. It's a decent hobby for me so I can put my interests for 3d modeling, animation, etc. to good use but a lot of people live and depend on it. I use it sparingly and really only attend the vg weekendly meetups or larger seasonal stuff.
I found my EB/ partner of 4+ years on it though so YMMV
It's the same with this (or really any game) where if you like it you'll know early on and put time into it or you just won't.
