What weird plugins do you really like?
I'm a big fan of orange guidance tomestone. It makes a bunch of these player made messages appear all over the world, and even in dungeons. The messages are limited in scope (i.e. nobody can just write shit, they have to pick from preselected phrases) but players come up with clever things. You can even leave a trace of your character in a ghostlike form doing an emote in the location you decide to pick. I left a few in my favorite spots and hope that someday others will find them.

But yeah, more stuff like this. Not really QoL stuff but just weird things that add a bit of flavor to the game for you.

I'm just saying that you sound like you're expecting your move to Aether to be a magical cure all, when my anecdotal experience dictates that it is not. If you are *only* interested in PF, then obviously Aether is the move. If you ever want to DF queue for something that is not run very often, you would have better luck getting that queue to pop on Crystal in my experience.

Like I stated in my first post, it seems that Aether is literally only for PF, whereas Crystal has no PF scene whatsoever but has a more robust DF scene than Aether does.

A lot of mods in general look bad. What really kills it for me is nobody wants to add skeleton support for their hand upscales, so the fingies look like picrel.
Another problem I have is sometimes they add shit (without toggles) to vanilla gear, so I would have to edit the mod myself in order to "fix" it, since there isn't a decent looking alternative. For example, the Tycoon gloves. There's are 3 upscales to my knowledge, 2 adds nails that change color based on dye #1, and the other is Tre (Tre hands fucking suck).

And the Aether players who were already there wouldn't even bother replying to indicate that they were going to assist. Once, I just wanted to run Dun Scaith for fun, and people here told me to queue it on Aether because Aether's the content server. So I did, and do you know what happened? I sat in queue for 40 minutes. Then I went back to crystal, and it popped in 7. Because of those experiences, I've always had the impression that Aether's PF is good because the community decided Aether was the place to PF, but its DF scene is trash for reasons I could speculate about but won't get into since it's not like I have proof or anything.

Now, all that being said, my personal experiences with this were about a year ago. Times change. But it's just the experiences I've had. As for the DF quality? I'd say it's worse than Crystal. And I feel this way because every time I was dragged to Aether for roulettes by people who were convinced that everything's better on Aether, I got some of the trashiest runs I'd ever had in my life. I really think Aether's best players are just in statics with their buds and don't bother doing random roulette bullshit with others because they don't see it as particularly enjoyable, engaging, or rewarding. Meanwhile, crystal's a carebear server full of gooners and casuals and they love that easy shit.

Escapism is fine. I actually think that a healthy amount of escapism is mandatory in order to be a functional human being. People are natural storytellers with active imaginations, it's been like this from day one. If we were to neglect our minds, neglect fantasy, we would only become dull. For what it's worth the likelihood of elationships/LDR working out is slim to none. We made it to IRL meets within 4-5 months to see if it would actually work out (which it did) and moved in when covid shit died down.
