There's a particular kind of dismissive hand-waving going on here. To each their own, I think your perspective is the definition of unimaginative and the result of a dull mind. I've done what anyone else does, shaped a fun narrative to fill in the details which you can reject outright. I don't think they bothered to expend all this effort creating a multi-thousand year timeline for you to necessarily just be nobodies, but sure, if that's what squeezes your juice then have at it.

I don't know why they'd bother writing any such dialogue when it's all just a desert romp through a theme park of no substance and import, as you say.
