I would unironically prefer a doublewide trailer over one of these monstrosity white elephants. My friend, he thought he got such a great deal on a $250,000 Victorian in a historical district. I'll admit that is actually a good deal for what it is as a house, but the poor bastard can't even do anything new with it or put things in the town doesn't approve of. He's probably almost paid the price of the house in heating and cooling by now and he's only had it 6 years. It's worth it to him, waking up at 6am everyday to work for it despite already owning it.

I always notice these too. Like how no matter what other advanced tools and machinery they have in the surrounding area, these are always a staple to be found still being used. A modern ladder isn't even that advanced, what is it about them that makes them prefer the lashed deadwood?
