Jpop idol stuff like AKB48 is not the default model that you have to follow in order to be popular over there. From hip hop to City pop to Visual Kei and even Japanese metalcore - they have everything. So them also filling the domestic market demand with idol groups that follow Korean lead and even promote in Korean music show is just smart business. Why listen to BTS when we have BTS at home.
China though? Tragic. But to be fair they're only now branching into the entertainment industry since they're finally at a sufficient development levels/mature consumer market for pop media. Where Japan and Korea have been for decades.
It's Cpop that copied Jpop with the giant graduation group models like SNH48, GNZ48 etc. You won't really find Korean style Kpop idol group models replicated in China like you will in Japan (I know of Rocket Girls and some others but they're almost all the result of survival shows which is a whole nother can of worms). Their music is still mostly folk and ballads and old Taiwanese pop songs and some underground rap here and there. Very little diversity - even less than Korea. For now.
