Depends on country I guess. I'm from Eastern/northern /central EU. We have a loisence for handguns, loisence for semi auto shotguns and loisence for hunting guns. Only military can have auto, silencers (wtf) and laser dots (also wtf).
I had my exams not so long ago, had to install safe and got my loisence.
