I fucked up one or more of the springs on my Bulldog. When I push the extractor rod down, it no longer returns to its original position. The extractor star stays down until I manually put it back with my palm. It's not a huge deal, and it really doesn't affect my reload speed, but I wonder how to fix it in theory. There's a spring imbalance going on, but the question is which spring should I change, and how? We can assume that I can twist any spring inwards or outwards, making the spring stronger or weaker.

The RMR cut is the most ubiquitous. I think there are some aftermarket cuts for various plate systems or multiple footprints on the same cut but most optics you want are RMR cut.

The RMR itself is pretty ancient but is still a perfectly fine optic. Holosun 407C (not the k) is a good cheap option, on sale they’re below 200 dollars on PSA while the ancient RMR is still 400+. The RMR HD perhaps is the best open emitter duty optic on the market, the SRO is cool looking but fragile, easy to use due to its big window. The Holosun 507Comp is a okay substitute for the SRO that’s significantly cheaper

Buy a jewelry dremel knockoff from Amazon, buy Ultra Fine 'Jewellers Rouge', wash and degrease the parts you’re going to blue

You can either use a boiling pot and hot plates for salt blue or you could if you’re lazier you could just microwave heat to near boiling a bottle of nublu cold blue in a bowl and dunk your parts there for a few minutes, I’ve only done that on smaller parts like my replacement mag catch for instance.

Wash it in boiling water with some baking soda and soap afterwards to remove corrosives. Dry, pour mineral oil over the whole thing and if you weren’t able to take out the internals before doing this oil them and the barrel well with CLP.

Use jewelers rouge on a jewelry dremel cotton buffing wheel to polish. Move in a single axis so like front back, not randomly.

In all honesty if you’re doing a new gun I recommend you look up salt bluing and do it on a hot plate with a metal bucket or something.
Polish with rouge or if not professional uchiko regardless. In fact you can pre polish rn to make the foundation more suited to looking high gloss.

Gloss and mate have to do with how well polished a surface is. High gloss has been polished at the microscopic level evenly. Don’t use too rough a polish (sandpaper) or you take out chunks of gun.

I bought one of those Hungarian HK USP 9 police surplus guns offered by AoA. I plan to put a red dot on it using the red dot rear sight mount. The Arex Zero 1 tacitcal has all those features, comes optics ready with 6 different plates, and is $650 with $25 mags. Looks nothing like a berretta but you didn't exactly definite your request well so I figured I'd put it out there. They had two guns with issues. The old TP9s were oversprung for NATO spec. They would still fire 124gr fine but choke on 115gr. They also had a rare frame crack issue. The Mete and Rival are properly sprung for US common loads and also have reinforced frames.
The MC9 had issues with springs as well, but that was only the first generation ones. Companies like Walther or HK dodge this issue by just overspringing hard.
The Mete is a fine gun except that the cut is RMSc so you can't just slap on the mega size optics.
