The fact that they tried to pull the "actually some Zeon are good people and this is a very nuanced conflict" after the first episode literally opens with them all landing a colony on Australia indirectly wiping out a bunch of earth cities with no care for the civilians there and literally incinerating people with the shockwave from their colony landing, is still one of the most embarrassing things I have ever seen in a mecha anime.
