It's also worth pointing out that the physical curvature of the screen was expected for a long time, and so content was made that was warped intentionally to look "flat" when displayed on those screens. This became a problem when they started making flat screen CRT displays, where you see content that was intended to account for that curvature was no longer there displayed incorrectly and looked warped and stretched. Some emulators actually have settings for this curvature, and can de-warp the image so that it is displayed correctly.
