common misconception about generalist engines. unreal and unity can do any art style you want, but they both have their primary focuses. unreal is photorealism, unity was mobile/lightweight. unreal can do photorealism out of the box, it can be very easily adjusted for more stylized stuff, and can even do 2d. whether it's realistic 2.5d, or straight up 8 bit sprites, it's not a problem. this was the idea for re engine, but it turns out that shit engine can't even do basic open world stuff. the whole thing is a loss, and we got a few terrible resident evils, an awful monster hunter, and a disastrous dragon's dogma out of it.
