I mean when you look at all the Danganronpa fan games can you blame him? There's really only so much you can do with such a rigid setup and one of the points that V3 made is that you get to a point where you're mostly just interchanging different templates and twists.

You're just kinda swapping in and out different gimmicks which is what stuff like the fan games end up doing. You bring up Ultra Despair Girls but that game is proof that the only way forward for the Danganronpa franchise was to get as far away from the initial premise of "Closed space, 15-16 characters, class trials" as possible.
