Max Payne 2 was an excellent game, and to immediately go from that to playing Max Payne 3 was utterly painful. Not only did the third game pull the "washed up hero is heckin' depressed" card prior to jew films like Logan and Indiana Jones, but it turned an otherwise fast-paced action game into a slow cover shooter, with heavy emphasis on cinematic cutscenes. Gameplay is segmented off into short 2-3 minute encounters with bullet sponge enemies, before pivoting into yet another meaningless cutscene. This slop truly represents the worst of the 7th gen era, courtesy of Rockstar. Of course, the original devs pulled the same shit two years prior with Alan Wake, color me shocked.
