You only need to engage with the gacha if you want to do the endgame/roll for a student you like, and it's a pretty forgiving system. Dailies take like 10-20 minutes after you get past the first week or so, depending on how hard you game.
It's just a comfy chill game for the most part, and the visual novel aspect is the main bulk. Endgame can be a total nightmare though.
