Grudziadz walled city is beautiful. My room with shared bath on a very quiet street is only 80 zloty, but the owner wanted a 500 zl damage deposit. Ridiculous. I had to fork over one of my emergency $100 bills to check in. Then they gave me the wrong entry code. At least the travel agency guy who checked me in was friendly and conversant in English. The owner, like 90% of small town Poles I've encountered, speaks no English.

In case you haven't figured out yet, I don't understand Polish. Written words like przystanek, dworzec or haslo I can pick up, but spoken Polish I'm hopeless.
