>Derek Carr Memorial Fact of the Day
As we've seen in previous editions of Derek Carr Memorial Fact of the Day, Derek's career was one of with many first-time happenings and even more records broken. In fact, this was the case from the very beginning, as the 2nd-round draft pick (36th overall) out of Fresno State became the Raiders' first ever rookie QB to start in the opening game of a regular season.
Against the Jets in week one, year one of the Carr Era, DC4 went 20/32 for 151 yards, 2 TD and 0 INT.
It would ultimately be a tough season for the team as they toiled under head coach Dennis Allen, who had guided them to dual 4-12 records the two years previous. He would be fired midway through a 3-13 campaign, but there was hope to be had, as Carr finished out his rookie season with 3,270 passing yards, 21 TD and 12 INT.
Year two would prove to be more fruitful, as the Raiders scored over 100 more points and finished with a 7-9 record, before going 12-4 in year three.
Bonus Fact: Derek Carr had Dennis Allen as a head coach twice.
