Of course, that is not factoring random wandering do-gooders or the mysterious supply drops of cheap, easy to maintain MD rifles and specialized ammo that appear randomly in such places.

Rifts, like most of the MDC settings, is not fair in many regards. Being a human is a severe disadvantage because a base human cannot tap into the wild energies present like most supernaturally strong creatures can. It's why you have humans sell themselves into slavery to have their brains put in war machines or be pumped full of drugs until they are a become literally superpowered. Of course apparently even those with 'gifts' can make deals with demonic entities for power because even magic and psychic humans are still SDC.
