[You see a young brunette woman. She has a patch-adorned leather jacket atop her Vault 54 jumpsuit, beneath which lies a body that can't take much of a beating]
You close your pocket mirror and head towards the Vault entrance. A small gathering of other dwellers bid you farewell as you and your companions watch the severely rusted Vault door screech to life, repositioning itself to allow you to exit. The tinnitus-inducing clatter of the old mechanisms whirring is too loud for you to really hear all the encouragement people are giving you, but you get the general sentiment of it.
With a tight grip on the cord, you and the others heave the raft out of the Vault and into the soaked cave it inhabits, trickles of water leaking down from the cave entrance like tendrils imparting their decay onto the unfortunate souls left inside. You sigh deeply, casting one last glance back at the people you've known, and the ones you'll now be travelling with. A mixture of sad and apathetic faces.
Glowing mushrooms and lichen accompany the moss on the interior of the cavern: something that the dwellers have come to eat in their meals to counterract the starvation of losing so many supplies to water leakage. You can also see bones. Old, old bones, muddled together in heaps near the cavern entrance. One of them is even wearing the threadbare remnants of a Vault suit.
Todd notices you, and gives a quiet snicker. "Probably one of the people that left in the last war. Didn't really make it far, huh? Or they tried to come crawling back." he says, kicking the bones aside as he shifts his weight while carrying.
You can see the cloudy sky outside now, infintesmally high and terrifying. Billowing grey clouds gather in large congregations, some darker than others, all suggesting unpleasant weather in the near future.
And so begins your story... to some, you will be known by your name, but to most, you will come to be known as the Captain.
