Some of the dialogue during the final boss fight is, in fact, as cringeworthy as everyone says, and some of the prose in the narration gets a little purple, but honestly outside of that the writing is mostly decent. You can see a lot of the ideas about game design that Toby would carry forward into UT/DR.
