Those are reasonable explanations, and the large scale of WFB (as well as TOW) doesn't really help in making each model feel "important" (despite their price certainly being quite significant for 5 saddled retards)
I do feel like 40k has relied on upgrade bits and modular packages a bit too much and I'm admittedly not super familiar with 30k, but looking at the shop for a faction like Alpha Legion looks pretty grim as well (25 bucks for a pair of Rhino doors is just funny); it's a shame because the actually unique minis like Exodus look phenomenal
I guess I'm a sucker for detailing and dynamic poses, and I'm sure Chorfs will be fucking excellent in those regards once (if) they come out
