Even with the dividers, the area is probably still a bit big. You could try it though. PVC also isnt a great surface for their nests. Something more natural and absorbent like plaster is better. They need moisture to develop the brood.
Keeping them in the test tube for a while is a good idea. A lot of people are too eager to move them into fun enclosures when test tubes work just fine.

These all have a system that wicks water into the plaster surface and keeps it moist. I've never bought them either, but they all look pretty decent.
Honestly, I would recommend you just get an attachable outworld for your test tube and keep them like that for a while. It's the safest option cause you won't even have to move them.
They will sit around inside the nest in a little pile most of the time anyways. A small colony will only leave to eat.
