You can explain that away as either
1. visual inconsistency
2. the angle being off from your view of things and murata not feeling like it should be drawn
Based on where the beam is going, it is NOT going in the direction of the sun btw, so the hole would not be by the sun.
Just accept it as an inconsistency. Story writers and artists are not fucking perfect.
