Not necessarily, keeping the flow of animation can be easier when you have a goal to aim for. The only time you'd get unnatural movement is if either you have stiff or weakly drawn keyframes or you don't consider the flow of motion properly.
Framing it out by pose makes it a bit easier to mentally organize your animation. That being said, there's definitely something so fun about straight forward animation. the only issue is that it can be easy to lose track of shifts in momentum.

Have you tried any other software? I hear OpenToonz isn't bad. I personally used pencil2d to draft ideas just because of how barebones it is.
