She was delusional enough to think everything she did was helping her family, so there's a basis for a redemption arc there. It all hinges on her realizing she's a failure and everything she did made things worse, not better, which would inevitably lead to a massive breakdown.

I've heard people say that Dana said the kids still visit her but I can't find a source for that. If they do, it probably means there's probably still some emotional warmth between them all, even if strained.

Maybe all that is just me wanting to see three dimensions in an otherwise one dimensional character, but I like to think I'm on the money.
