I appreciate how they seemed to characterize K. Rool as just being an unhinged lunatic that wants to watch the world burn in Bananza. It helps to distinguish him from just being "DK's Bowser".
Like, a transformation like this would've been Bowser being brainwashed or corrupted (see Castle Bowser in Wonder or Fury Bowser). This is just K. Rool at his core.
